Buying Twitter Followers?

Posted by Chris Consorte

A new service from USocial is allowing businesses to purchase Twitter followers and, accoring to the service, stops businesses from spending "countless hours" to find followers on their own.

It is a simple process - just tell USocial the type of "follower" you want, or your target customer, and they do the rest. It sounds easy and attractive, but does this really deliver the kind of "follower" you want, even if they are wearing the data you want them to wear?

It is a good concept, but I feel it is flawed. When a customer clicks on "follow" themself, they are saying that they want to continue to hear more about your business. That is a message straight from the consumer that they like you and want to know more. They are opting-in to your tweets. With this service, is some of the value in that lost? How exactly do they deliver these valuable "followers" for you?

Bottom line - you really do not go searching for Twitter followers necessarily, they find your page through browsing, affiliations or other marketing channels. Then they decide if they want to hear more or not. How much are you willing to pay for that click of the "follow" button?
